The Pennsylvania-based debt settlement company filed notice of the breach with the Maine Attorney General’s Office, marking the formal public disclosure of the event.

Incident Timeline and Discovery

According to company statements and regulatory filings, the unauthorized access to company systems began on November 7, 2024. The breach went undetected for several months until it was discovered and confirmed through internal investigations on May 30, 2025. The company took immediate steps to contain the incident and assess the full scope of the compromise.

Notifications to affected individuals began on June 27, 2025, with the company offering assistance and monitoring services to those whose information was exposed.

Data Exposed

The compromised data includes a wide range of personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI). Specifically, the following types of data may have been accessed:

  • Full names
  • Dates of birth
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license or state-issued ID numbers
  • Passport numbers
  • Medical and health insurance information
  • Financial account details
  • Digital signatures
  • Contact information

While the company has not clarified the extent to which sensitive data such as Social Security numbers was encrypted, the overall scope of the breach raises serious concerns regarding identity theft and fraud.

Scope and Impact

The breach is known to impact 160,759 individuals, though actual numbers could expand as investigations continue. Century Support Services, which has provided debt settlement services to nearly 300,000 clients nationwide, has stated that it is working closely with cybersecurity professionals and law enforcement as part of its response.

Notably, no ransomware group has publicly taken responsibility for the attack as of the date of this report.

Remediation and Consumer Protections

To mitigate the potential harm to affected individuals, Century Support Services is providing 12 months of free identity theft protection and credit monitoring services. Individuals who have received notification letters are encouraged to activate these services and remain vigilant for signs of financial fraud or misuse of their personal data.
