Orange, France’s largest telecommunications provider, has confirmed it was the target of a major cyber-attack this month, resulting in service disruptions for both business and consumer customers.
The incident, first detected by Orange Cyberdefense (OCD) on July 25, prompted the company to declare a red alert, isolating affected systems as a precautionary measure. The cyber-attack has impacted management platforms used by Orange’s enterprise clients as well as certain consumer services within the French market. Some services outside France, particularly in regions such as Africa and the Middle East where Orange maintains a significant presence, were also reportedly affected on a limited basis.
Despite the operational disruption, Orange has assured customers and the public that, as of July 29, there is no evidence of any compromise to corporate or customer data. The company is working to restore critical systems, with the majority of key functionalities expected to be reinstated by July 30.
In response to the breach, Orange has filed a formal complaint with French authorities and is collaborating closely with law enforcement as the investigation continues. The company has emphasized its commitment to enhanced monitoring, ongoing transparency, and frequent updates for those affected.
