Ukrainian operatives cyberattack on Russia’s Gaskar Group delivers devastating blow to Russia’s UAV drone program.

In a bold display of cyber warfare, Ukrainian operatives say they have executed a devastating attack against Gaskar Group, one of Russia’s most critical suppliers of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for its military operations. According to statements from Ukrainian hacking collectives and corroborated by official sources, the operation resulted in significant data destruction, operational disruption, and the exposure of sensitive company information.

Details of the Operation

The assault, reportedly coordinated with support from Ukraine’s Military Intelligence (GUR), was carried out by prominent Ukrainian hacktivist entities, including the BO Team (Black Owl) and the Ukrainian Cyber Alliance. The attackers allege that they successfully gained full access to the internal network and server infrastructure of Gaskar Group, compromising the company’s ability to function.

Among the most striking claims is the exfiltration and subsequent erasure of more than 47 terabytes of technical and production data, including critical documentation pertaining to drone design and future projects. Additionally, approximately 10 terabytes of backup data were reportedly deleted, which likely further hampered any attempts at system restoration.

The attackers also claim to have obtained sensitive personal data belonging to Gaskar Group employees, including home addresses and family details. The cyberattack allegedly disabled internet access, internal accounting tools, and essential production systems—effectively paralyzing the company’s core operations.

In a twist that underscores the seriousness of the breach, some reports indicate that internal security systems at the facility were manipulated to lock doors remotely, forcing staff to evacuate via emergency exits.

Lack of Official Response

While the Ukrainian side has publicized the attack as a significant blow to Russia’s military-industrial capabilities, as of this report, Gaskar Group has not publicly addressed the incident, and external, independent verification of the full scale of damage remains pending.

Strategic Significance

Gaskar Group serves as a strategic asset in Russia’s ongoing unmanned aerial campaign and broader military logistics. If the Ukrainian claims are accurate, the attack could result in considerable production delays and shortages for Russian forces, at least in the short term.
