The Rockets 95 team has wound down their recreational playing careers and are now playing select/competitive soccer with the Fort Worth United Soccer Club. 10 of the 11 players went on to play competitive soccer and immediately qualified into the Classic League Division 1. The boys, who played together since they were 4 years old, achieved more success during their 7-year run than any other team in BISA history. We will leave this site online as a tribute to their success. This home page looks just as it did when they completed their recreational playing days. Congratulations boys – I expect to see you in the major league soon!
North
Texas State Tournament of Champions
Finalists!
Blazing through the
preliminaries and outscoring opponents
by a combined total of 14-1, the boys
from Burleson rocketed to the top of
their U10B bracket. After losing their
right halfback to a groin pull and
their left halfback to a 102 degree
temperature, the Rockets continued
through he playoffs racking up more
points and wins against some very
tough opponents. When they reached the
championship game they found
themselves still missing their left
halfback and their right halfback
still hindered by the groin pull.
Nevertheless, the players stepped it
up a notch and showed the determined
resolve that has characterized this
team for the last 7 years. After 50
minutes of play and two grueling
overtime periods, the game was tied at
2-2. The Gators finally pulled off the
win on the 6th penalty kick.
Congratulations Rockets! Playing under
tough circumstances, you still managed
to fight your way to the top of the
pack and demonstrated the strength,
tenacity, athleticism, skill, and
tactical intelligence that has
resulted in your new title – the
2004 North Texas State Tournament of
Champions Finalists!
They did
it again - Waco Champions!
The Rockets made their annual trek to
Waco to participate in the Samuel
Adams Tournament - one of the toughest
tournaments in North Texas.
Outscoring opponents 32-1 in the
preliminaries, the Rockets went on to
defeat the Irving Strikers in the semi
and advanced to the finals where they
met their friendly rivals - the Waco
Galaxy. After a 0-0 tie at
halftime, the Rockets game alive to
put 2 on the board quickly.
Galaxy followed close behind with a
fantastic PK shot and another goal to
tie it 2-2. After two 5-minute
overtime periods the game was still
tied 2-2. Rockets came down to
the 6th shooter before winning 5-4 in
the "shots from the
mark". Congratulations boys
- your intelligent play this season is
producing absolute domination in
tournament and rec play.
Irving
Invitational Champions!
After a season of becoming
finalists in 3 of the 4 tournaments
the Rockets participated in, the
Rockets shot to the top in the Irving
Invitational to take first place! The
Rockets only allowed 1 goal during the
preliminary round and outscored
opponents during the tournament by a
total of 31-4. They continued their
push through the semis and into the
finals where they fought through one
of their toughest games ever. With two
players injured and out, the Rockets
battled with no subs to push the
finals game against Dallas East Boca
into overtime. Still tied after the
two overtime periods, the Rockets went
on to outscore Boca 2-1 in the
shootout. Congratulations boys - the
hard work is paying off!
